The transfer market is red hot at the moment.
Neil Warnock and his team are reportedly surveying the landscape for the best legs to join their side in a free transfer deal. Six players have joined the club this summer and almost all have been gotten without paying the expensive transfer fees.
Cardiff City only had to spend a minute figure to land Callum Paterson though. The club has taken advantage of decent players that do not have deals. The coach has said that he would add more, possibly three to the crop of players he has before the season resumes.
This strategy has worked in the past and the club had benefited from it. In the last decade, several players joined the club virtually for free but eventually went on to make their mark in the team.
An obvious mention would be sol Bamba who joined last summer for Leeds United. He was one of the first players recruited by Warnock and he repaid the faith in him real quick. In his 26 appearances for the club last term, the African star showed impressive form.
Then there is no list without club legend Craig Bellamy. He returned to his hometown club in 2012 after his time at Anfield. He was part of the key players that helped the club regain promotion to the top flight.
Chris Burke joined in 2009 but he went on to feature in over 100 games in two years. He was excellent in the 09/10 season where he contributed ten goals.
There have been so many others that have made their impact despite the way they joined. Gavin Rae, Fabio the Brazilian, and of course Aron Gunnarsson are notable mentions.
