BELLAMY DESPERATE
The Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy has said that he is extremely desperate to help the team achieve promotion to the Premier league this season. The Welsh striker is regarded as one of the best players in the division due to his experience of playing in the top competitions like the Champions League. The 33-year-old, though, is coming to the end of this stellar career and he is keen to go out on a high. Despite having a lot of years on paper, the striker has struggled with a lot of injuries. The Cardiff manager Mickey Mackay has carefully used the striker to the club’s advantage.
Cardiff City have been the team to beat in the Championship this season. They have suffered just one defeat in more than two months of football, which has seen them open a six-point advantage over Hull City in the table. Bellamy has so far made 17 appearances for the team in all competitions – most of them coming on as a substitute – and has scored four goals. The former Liverpool and Manchester City striker reckons that he has to provide more goals for the club in the future. Cardiff can now only focus on the league after exiting the FA Cup in the third round following the 2-1 defeat against Macclesfield Town.
“Craig has got a desperation to play for the club at the moment. He’s been enjoying his football and when someone is enjoying the game you see it in them. He’s got over his couple of knocks and he’s got match fit. These 90-minute performances from him now, these are the signs that he is getting up to speed. That’s big for us. I think when you see a player closing down in the 85th minute the way Craig does then it is just unbelievable,” said the Cardiff manager.

EXPECTING MORE
The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that he is expecting even more good things from the team in the forthcoming matches. Mackay has said that he can see that the team is on the brink of going on an extremely good run of form because they are playing with a lot of confidence. The team has just managed to win nine home matches on the bounce, which has helped them to take on Crystal Palace in the table. This incredible achievement came after the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough during the weekend. Following this match, they will be facing Barnsley and Derby before welcoming the former manager Dave Jones and his Sheffield Wednesday team.
Even though the home form has been excellent for Mackay and his men, the away form has not been so good as they have suffered three consecutive defeats against Nottingham Forest, Bolton, and Charlton. Mackay is hoping that this slide will be arrested starting with the match against Barnsley after which they will face yet another away match against Derby. Away from has been a major letdown for Cardiff this season, as they have conceded a lot of goals. Mackay has identified this area as one to improve if they are to win promotion automatically this season.
“We look at that run at the end of last season and that is something we know we are capable of. The results away have not been what we might have wanted, but I don’t think there’s been a time when we have been totally out of a game or well beaten. We have always been in there. The key is for us to cut out errors and to improve, most importantly, out final decision making,” said Mackay. Cardiff will be looking to open an advantage over the likes of Leicester and Middlesbrough.
