Daryl Murphy was one of the priority summer targets of Cardiff City as the player attracted the attention of a number of clubs after scoring 27 goals and helping Ipswich Town get into the play-offs but ultimately losing out to Norwich City in the semi-finals.
It was initially believed that Cardiff City was preparing to launch an offer in the region of €4 million in order to sign the 32 year old forward from Ipswich Town but it’s not going to happen as Russell Slade will try to reinforce players in other positions.
Russell Slade was going to do everything in his power to try and sign Daryl Murphy but now he is going to focus on other positions of his squad that need to be reinforced including, the left and right wings.
Even though €4 million was the price tag that Ipswich Town had on Daryl Murphy, that price could have easily increased taking into consideration that Stoke City, Burnley, Queens Park Rangers, Fulham and Middlesbrough all have shown desire of signing Murphy and Cardiff City isn’t in the financial position to spend big cash in signing players. So, instead of spending a significantly large amount of money a player who is 32 years old, Russell Slade will be searching around for other players to sign that can be cheaper and younger.
